A 1939 Map of Physics

In beautiful, hilarious, Science, science fiction on September 5, 2012 at 7:46 am

Found at Frank Jacobs’ blog, “Strange Maps”,: A 1939 Map of Physics. It is, on one hand, a work of fiction, naming bodies of water for different fields within physics and place names after physicists. Or maybe it’s more like an allegory of physics, or a mnemonic. I could argue with some of the choices that the map’s creator made, and there are areas that badly need updating, but I still find this map oddly beautiful.
