Dance versus Powerpoint (A TED talk)

In beautiful, Science, technology, writing on December 5, 2011 at 9:45 am

From the guy who started the “Dance Your PhD” contest. A brief, beautiful and informative talk. Also, a lot of fun.

I’m a writer and thus am very very invested in the ability of words to convey complex ideas. But I’m also routinely bombarded by nonfiction writing that is clumsy or misleading or impenetrable for whatever reason. A good picture is worth a thousand words, a good animation or video can be even more powerful, and when you add on the layers of knowledge most of us have about body language, and the attraction of watching other people… dance can be a ridiculously powerful for communicating.
