MAKE | Waterwheel Powered Musicboxes

This tickles my fancy: an electric pump raises water to an upper pond, where it then falls, using gravity to drive the rotation of a water wheel. The mechanical rotation of the water wheel pulls about 300 m loop of rope through a variety of pulleys, some of which incorporate small mechanical music boxes. It’s a huge and oddly beautiful Rube Goldberg machine.
