From Inside Science: Studying ‘Squid Skin’ To Create New Camouflage Patterns.

In The Science of Heroes I discussed some of the interesting properties of cuttlefish — their ability to quickly change colors, and to mimic patterns around them. The Navy is funding research to figure out how cuttlefish and cephalopods do that, and how we could copy that behavior.
