It beats standing in line at the airport

I love XKCD! This week, he takes on quantum teleportation in the press:

I apologize for the width issues. I don’t know how to fix it gracefully

Heroes characters who teleport from one place to another aren’t teleporting like the information shared by quantum-entangled particles. But teleporting is a lot of fun for a story, whether it’s Hiro zipping through time and space like a particularly cute TARDIS, or D.L. quantum-tunnelling (or whatever he’s doing) through solid walls.

  1. Oh, Gene Roddenberry, if only you knew how many hopes you raised too high, too soon. ^_^

    (P.S. Commenting works. I think?)

  2. Works, yes! Thanks!

Yeah, teleporting would make this weekend’s road-trip to Toronto much easier, too.

On the other hand, I’ve seen one pleasant side-effect of the high cost of gas: people are spending more time and energy where they live. If everyone teleported everywhere, then we’d never have any farmer’s markets!
